Charter fishing boats await customers to take them out on the Raritan Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Atlantic Highlands is so named because its cliffs overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Its hills mark the highest point on the eastern seaboard of the United States south of Maine.
It was during a low part in my life that I decided to move into an apartment overlooking the Atlantic Highlands Marina. Just sitting on my balcony brought peace. Walking the pier even more so.
The Atlantic Highlands Harbor dates back to 1938 and was completed in 1940. It is the largest on the East Coast. Home to 715 watercraft.
A couple watching boats launch from the Atlantic Harbor Marina. It’s great sport around here watching boaters of varying proficiencies launching and removing their boats from the water. In fact, so many people are attracted to this ‘‘spectator sport” that they finally decided to add benches for them. I’m not sure whether the less seasoned boaters necessarily appreciate that!
How would you like to live in one of these houses high on a hill overlooking the marina and with a clear view of lower Manhattan?
