The Houses Of Cranford NJ
A return trip to Cranford and a walk in a neighborhood adjacent to the business district reveals beautiful, well maintained, charming old houses.
Cranford dates back to the Revolutionary War period and includes historically significant buildings and landmarks. I don’t know what, if any, historical significance any of these homes have. I just know that I found them to be pleasant to my eye. Making them fodder for my photographs.
It may be hard for people who don’t live here to believe, but this quiet picturesque community is just 18 miles from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. It’s serviced by the New Jersey Transit train line making it an ideal place of respite following the pressures of working in the city.
It struck me how every house in this neighborhood was well maintained and seemingly proudly on display.
Even the more modest homes stand proudly alongside more stately houses.
Cranford is less than five square miles and has a population of just under 24,000. It is ranked as the seventh safest city in New Jersey.
