Walking The Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge In The World
The Walkway over the Hudson is a New York state park and was once a railroad bridge
The bridge, which links Highland New York with Poughkeepsie New York once carried two railroad tracks used mainly for freight carrying mostly raw materials. It burned in 1974 and was rebuilt and reopened as the Walkway over the Hudson in 2009. The 1.28 mile span is 212 feet over the Hudson River so it afforded me this direct view of this tree boasting fall foliage.
I was hoping the colors would be at their peak like the tree in the first photo but many of them, like this one and in the examples below have only partially gone to fall colors or haven’t changed yet. But they still look quite lovely from the vantage point offered by the Walkway.
This photo and the next one are views of Poughkeepsie neighborhoods under the bridge.
